We are supposed to jump up and get excited by "possible competence"? We deserve to be scolded for not recognizing "possible competence"?

Three more months of it won't change much.

Your crystal ball is THAT accurate? IMO, there are lots of things that could happen in 3 months. Eddie could have a Yosh-like meltdown, for one.

The obvious conclusion is that the guy may well be qualified.

Pulleeeze! It's OBVIOUS that he MAY BE well qualified? Uh, sounds like you're covering a lot of bases (if you'll excuse the pun) with that statement. It's pretty obvious that ANYONE may be qualified. The trick is finding someone who IS qualified. And the longer SSB looks, the better able to make that judgement.
