over-evaluation

one way to limit the overvaluation (or at least to limit the extent of bankroll damage) would be to follow Dan Gordon's advice of putting a cap on how much you bet on a "best bet". Dan limits his best plays to 50% higher than his regular plays. This may be a bit conservative, but see how you would have done year-by-year over the however many years you have data. Maybe more important would be the weekly swings in your wins/losses. After all, losing 5x a normal bet on one game in a week makes a big hole to dig your way out of.
