In Response To: Action points betting: discussion. (fezzik)

Just doing this by glancing at last year's numbers, which is all I have in front of me. I will take any NFL home dog of +1 through +2 1/2 with a 10 point cap Here goes...

10/15 Arizona +2 1/2 Philly L 14-33 (-11 units)
10/8 Atlanta +1 1/2 NY Giants L 6-13 (-6.05 units)
10/22 Atlanta +2 New Orleans P 19-21 (0 units)
11/27 Carolina +2 Green Bay W 31-14 (+10 units)
12/3 Chicago +2 Green Bay L 6-28 (-11 units)
9/17 Cleveland +2 Pittsburgh W 23-20 (+5 units)
9/17 Miami +2 1/2 Baltimore W 19-6 (+10 units)
12/30 Miami +1 1/2 Indianapolis W 23-17 (+7.5 units) (playoffs)
12/4 New England +1 Kansas City W 30-24 (+7 units)
11/12 NY Giants +1 St. Louis L 24-38 (-11 units)
1/14 NY Giants +2 1/2 Minnesota W 41-0 (+10 units)
9/24 San Diego +2 1/2 Seattle L 12-20 (-6.05 units)
11/26 San Diego +1 1/2 Kansas City W 17-16 (+2.5 units)
12/3 San Diego +2 1/2 San Francisco L 17-45 (-11 units)
12/18 Tampa Bay +2 St. Louis W 38-35 (+5 units)

Not a lot of them, but it totals out to .9 units profit for the whole year. Less profitable than playing these straight up, which would've yielded a 8-6 record. Nevertheless, I say they are worth adding to our growing basic strategy since it makes logical sense by being able to skip over the dead numbers. I definitely will be playing these this season.

I spent an entire FB season (1997) betting only action points while in college. Why? Because I was under the impression that good handicapping would give me more blowout wins than losses and make more money than straight betting. I was right, especially because my bookie had no cap at 10. He had no cap at all and I had some huge swings, but it was still profitable.

Definitely an option worth pursuing.
