I'm sure some experts will chime in soon, but for now:

Since all of the historical studies showing that teasers in the right range are good bets use closing lines, you have to be very uncomfortable if you are holding a +2.5 team teased up to +8.5 after the line has moved to +3 or +3.5.

OTOH, if you have a sense of which way the line is moving, getting in early can put you in a very nice spot. Fezzik recommended an early NO +8.5 teaser. Now NO is favored by about 1.5, and that bet no longer exists (but any of us would jump on it if it did).
