PS to SW: I feel your competitive nature is the reason that you've posted re Dan Gordon. I agree with Stevie, it's not which road you take to pos EV land, just that you got there. Thanks for taking me along for the ride.

I've always been competitive. But I learned as a kid that being competitive was bad if you wanted to keep friends. So I forced myself to reign in my competitive nature. It was great when I turned 21 and could be as competitive as I wanted in the casinos of Nevada!

Even now at the ripe old age of 58 I have to reign in the competitiveness in me. I see my competitiveness as being a good thing when it comes to creating a book or a software product or a web site. I keep working to improve my creation until it is clearly better than all the competition. But I have to watch my competitiveness when it comes to people. After all, our main goal here is to win money from sportsbooks. In my mind, whatever win percentage Dan Gordon accomplishes I want to top, and by more than just a fraction of a percent. But why? There is no logic to it. If Gordon hits 57% this year and I do one percentage point worse than that, we all make money, and we all should be happy. But if he hits 57% and I hit one percentage point more than that, I will be happier all out of proportion to the extra money I will make. That's not logical; that's just the way I am. I thank Don Schlesinger and Dan Gordon for allowing me to get this much pleasure out of betting football.
