Week of 8/28 Picks YTD 2-1

For Thursday:

For each of these games I checked exactly 5 books and found the given line at 1 of the 5. Thus, 20% seems to hold, but if anyone disagrees I will take the mire widely available line for either game.

BYU (-2.5) vs Syracuse
Syracuse is never strong away from home. This is one of my play against teams this year, as they had a whopping +18 TO margin last year, and were actually outgained by about 30 yards/game. Their O-line looks to be a major concern this year as well and they won't be able to capitalize much on the Cougars' dreadful (but improved) run D. I'm not nuts about BYU either, but their defense should be improved and the offense always manages to pick up points.

San Diego St (+17.5) at Fresno St
I was not particularly impressed by the Bulldogs against Wisky. Notably, I was unimpressed by the O-line and the running attack. They picked up a lot of yards on short passes, but they are completely missing a back to just grind it out. San Diego St is a bad team but I don't think they're as bad as people think. They were outgained by 16 yards/game last year. They should be able to put some points on the board against a weak Fresno secondary, and that should be enough keep it reasonably close.
